Unwritten, the Newcastle-based strategic brand and digital agency, has been named the best creative business in the region at the 2016 North East Woman Entrepreneur (WIN) Awards.

The awards, which took place at The Boiler Shop in Newcastle, are designed to celebrate the achievements of women in business across the North East.

Unwritten, which was founded by co-directors Lisa Eaton and Amy Jackson, was recognised by the award judges for, ‘massive growth potential’, ‘for standing out in a crowded marketplace’ and, significantly for, ‘creating an impressive and unique product’, in reference to its ‘buyer persona’ insight specialism.

Unwritten’s Buyer Personas outline buyer motivations, assumptions and expectations, enabling businesses and organisations to better tailor their messaging to increasingly informed customers.  This research is undertaken before creative work begins to deliver a more effective and targeted campaign.

The agency has enjoyed a strong period of growth in its first three years in business and has secured high calibre clients including VisitEngland, North Tyneside Council, Bel Valves and the NewcastleGateshead Initiative.

Unwritten has also recently secured a high profile project from WIN Awards headline sponsor, Sage, to deliver a stand and stage design for the UK Business Show later this month, which will host keynote speakers such as Dragons’ Den retail guru, Touker Suleyman, and former Dragon and founder of Pallet-Ex, Hillary Devey.

As a result of its growth, it has strengthened its team and now employs a team of nine with plans to create a further two jobs in the coming months.

Amy Jackson, director of Unwritten, said: “We are incredibly proud to have been named the North East’s best creative business.  It is recognition of the emphasis we have put on developing an innovative approach that delivers effective results for our clients, which is also providing the opportunity to develop our business further.  The WIN Awards are well-respected and it is an excellent achievement for the business and the hard work of our team.”

Nickie Gott, WIN Awards judge, said: “Unwritten stood out as an exciting and growing business that has incredible potential based on its unique and fresh approach to delivering strategic brand & digital support for its clients.  The Best Creative Business is a hotly-contested category and Lisa, Amy and their team should be immensely proud to have won this award.”
