FANCY fighting off the January blues by exploring the great outdoors and raising money for a good cause? Help is at hand as the Winter Walking Festival gets underway.
Running from Saturday, January 30, until Sunday, February 7, the walking festival will raise money for the Anthony Nolan Trust, which helps people suffering from blood cancer.
Taking in all corners of the borough, walkers will be able to enjoy the sights of Loftus before venturing through Guisborough Forest & Walkway and Great Ayton amongst others.
Each walk will cost £2 with all the proceeds going to the Anthony Nolan Trust. Many walks also welcome dogs, who can explore the borough along with their owners.
Any walkers wanting to take on the trails need to be prepared and make sure they come with warm and waterproof clothing.
Cllr Carl Quartermain, Cabinet Member for Jobs, Skills and Leisure, said: “I am delighted that the Winter Walking Festival will be supporting the Anthony Nolan Trust. The charity does great work supporting those diagnosed with blood cancer and their families.
“Hopefully we can get as many hikers as possible taking part in the festival raising money for this great cause.”
