A LUXURY property development, which will transform a historic Newcastle building, has already attracted a huge amount of interest, according to its owners.
Work will begin this summer on turning The Coach House at The Drive, Gosforth, into eight state-of-the-art properties, which should be completed by spring 2020.
And, according to McDougall Dodds Ltd, which owns the Grade II listed building, two of the homes have already been sold with a wave of inquiries about the remaining six.
The development includes two houses, two bungalows, and four apartments, with one of the houses and one of the bungalows already snapped up.
The plans were outlined at a VIP preview event held earlier this month and now the remaining properties have gone on sale, giving people the opportunity to buy a property in one of the most prestigious areas of the city.
Chris Summers of McDougall Dodds Ltd, whose family has owned The Coach House since the 1970s, is delighted with the interest so far.
“It’s a fantastic building which is going to be transformed sympathetically into some spectacular homes,” he said.
The Coach House, together with the Gatehouse, which is also located at the Drive, are the last remaining parts of Coxlodge Hall, a mansion built in Gosforth by Job Bulman in 1796 which occupied a site of more than 30 acres.
Since the 1950s the building has been used as commercial offices until last year when the current development was confirmed.
