SUNDERLAND’S top businesses are set to get recognised, thanks to a new initiative.
The Wearside Business and Community Awards 2015, organised by leading events company the Konect Group, will be held for the first time on November 12 at The Point, Sunderland.
The awards, which are sponsored by the Sunderland Business Network, are designed to recognise and reward the hard work of companies in Sunderland, along with giving professionals the chance to network with other business men and women.
The black tie event, which will be compered by Geordie TV presenter, vocalist and comedian Steve Walls, will include live entertainment from Wearside singer, Olivia Lawson, who appeared on the BBC hit TV series The Voice, and BBC presenter and comedian, Steve Royle.
“These awards are a great way to reward the hard working business men and women in Sunderland,” said Gavin Brown, managing director of the Konect Group.
“The city has an amazing community spirit and a growing business landscape and it is important that we recognise how much work people are doing to put Sunderland on the map.
“Over the last few years in particular, Sunderland has undergone a huge transformation and these awards will help to recognise the people who contributed to that.”
The new awards will recognise achievements in nine different categories including, social enterprise of the year, community project of the year, charity event of the year, social entrepreneur of the year, business ambassador of the year, small business of the year, community ambassador of the year, large business of the year and city champion.
Tickets to the events are priced at £65 per person and are available from www.getkonect.com/events/wbcawards15.
