The Tyne and Wear Metro is inviting people to share what Metro means to them this summer using a pop up video booth.
The iconic North East railway has been part of people’s lives since 1980 and currently transports 100,000 passengers across Tyne and Wear every day.
People choose Metro to transport them to work, school, university, on days and nights out, to visit friends and family and for shopping and leisure trips. Passengers benefit from Metro’s links with two cities, four major sporting venues, an international airport, two main railway stations and hundreds of visitor attractions.
Over 1.4 billion journeys have been made on Metro since its opening in 1980 and Metro would love passengers to share their stories about what Metro means to them via our pop up booth.
The video booth will be at Monument Metro station from Thursday 23rd August to Saturday 25th August between 10am – 4pm.
Customer Services Director at Nexus, Huw Lewis, said: “Metro is proud to be an essential part of everyday life in the North East since 1980. To celebrate Tyne and Wear’s iconic Metro we would love passengers to share their stories about what Metro means to them.
“Whether they have a memorable journey, destinations they love or simply rely on our services for their day to day lives we would like to hear from everyone. It could be something as small as saying thank you to a member of staff or a kind passenger or could be a milestone moment from travelling to your graduation ceremony or your dream job.
“If you are passing by Monument Metro station make sure you stop off to share your story.”
Passengers who share their Metro stories will be entered into a prize draw to win a family ticket for up to four people for either the Theatre Royal or the Sage Gateshead.
