Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

CaptureNEWLY launched Gosforth-based keepsake business, The Wishing Jar, is waiting to find out if it can recover losses after a local soft play went into administration early last week.
Along with several other businesses, owner Lois Hedley displayed her bespoke handmade jewellery at The Playstation in Gosforth and since its closure, has not been able to recover the items worth several hundred pounds.
The Wishing Jar, which started in December 2015 creates bespoke handmade jewellery that captures a picture or memory. They have seen recent successes through placing their work within activity centres in the region.
She said: “Starting your own business can be exciting and a bit scary too, but I’ve loved every minute of starting the Wishing Jar, and been really pleased with how it has gone so far, until last week.
“I was angry and felt like crying all at the same time when I found out that the soft play had suddenly gone into liquidation. A company has gone in and ripped everything out and may have already sold my items as assets.”
Ms Hedley is unsure if she will be able to get back her display and jewellery, whilst other companies are trying to reclaim displays of pottery and ceramics, frames and photography work (Sarah Deane Photography).
She continued, “I’ve been trying not to think about it and concentrate on making some recent orders. I’ve been delighted by all the help and support I’ve had since this happened.  I hope that it will be resolved soon.”
