Yarm Preparatory School is donating £2562 to a local charity launched in memory of a local little girl.
Remembering Rebecca was established in August 2010 after 21-month old Rebecca Sands died from Lissencaphaly, a rare brain condition. Rebecca’s parents, Gemma and Michael Sands, set up the foundation to raise awareness of the condition and of other neurological conditions, from birth to 16 years of age.
Yarm Preparatory School’s parent association raised the money at its Arabian Nights-themed Ball, which included a charity auction and raffle prizes donated by local businesses.
Bill Sawyer, Head of Yarm Preparatory School which said, “It is fantastic that our annual ball can raise a huge amount for a local charity as well as being an entertaining evening.
“The money raised will aid the important work that the charity is doing to support children and families affected by neurological diseases, and help them access the specialist equipment that they need to improve their quality of life.”
Christina Tomlinson, a Trustee of Remembering Rebecca, “On behalf of everyone at Remembering Rebecca, I would like to say a big thank you to Yarm Prep School for raising an amazing amount of money.
