ZAMPARELLI RARING FOR KNOCKHILL CHALLENGE

Nationwide Accident Repair Services return to the track at Knockhill this weekend (August 25/26), as Dino Zamparelli leads the title fight by four points over rival Tio Ellinas with just six races left to run.

Nationwide-backed driver, Dino, bounced back last time out in tricky conditions at Snetterton as rain made the circuit greasy, but the Bristolian had the pace in race one, taking an excellent victory from second on the grid, and followed up with third place in the reverse grid race later that afternoon.

The Nationwide Team believe that getting it right the first time, every time, is one shared with the Nationwide-backed Redline Racing 911 GT3 Cup car. The company is continuously looking for improvements in the development of its people through training and progression, which is a belief shared by Dino Zamparelli as he and his team strive for improvements race-on-race.

“I’m looking forward to Knockhill,” Dino said, speaking ahead of the race. “I finished second there twice last year but this year we want to go for the pole and the race one win. With the way the regulations are this year, we’ll have to see where that puts us for race two but race one is where you bag your big points for the weekend.

“We lost out on pole at Snetterton so that’s something we need to nail down for Knockhill. We need to improve our qualifying form because it’s such a small track. We’ll do a test day on the Wednesday before but because of that everyone will be dialled in. The margins are so small, so the racing will be fierce and very close. Overtaking will be difficult, and people will be making mistakes. The challenge will be to get a good lap time and walk away with as many points as we can.”

Nationwide brand ambassador and BTCC driver Dan Cammish has shown his pace throughout his debut campaign in the British Touring Car Championship and qualified third at Rockingham earlier this month. He followed up with two top-ten finishes to take a 30-point lead in the Jack Sears Trophy for rookie drivers.

Dan said, “Knockhill has always been a good place for me, whether it was in a Formula Ford or the Porsche. I’m looking forward to it and it’s going to be a very big weekend for us. It will be my first time on the track in the Civic Type R touring car, but I’m hoping it will be a good weekend for both myself and Dino. I’ll be racing with no success ballast in the car so hopefully, we can spring a surprise on one or two people.”

Nationwide’s popular Race Hub will be present at Knockhill, where guests can try to beat Dino’s time on the Nationwide Porsche Simulator. There’ll be collections for Cancer Research UK, Nationwide’s charity partner for 2018, and on Sunday, Nationwiders will be treated to an exclusive session to meet Dino, where he will sign autographs and pose for photographs.
