With the world being in lockdown now thanks to COVID-19, there is no shame in being bored in your house without much to do. Being angsty is a natural occurrence of being cooped up without a lot of places to go either. If you have already burnt through your first golden days of being at home, here are some fun free activities you can try out to keep you entertained in the meantime:

Play Casino Games

The internet is a haven for casino games with thousands of options made available in an array of gambling destinations. Most of these games are offered in free versions that use fun credits to activate bets. That way, no real money deposits have to be made. The games are available in a range of categories to meet different needs, including:

Play a Board Game

Board games are an exciting way to have fun with your family and also engage your mind. Some of the best options include Monopoly, Risk, Chess, Scrabble, Ticket to Ride, Uno, etc. You can go as far as to set a price for the winner, such as choosing what the family eats. If you do not have any games with you, you can order some online or pick one up at your local game store if it is still open.

Complete a Puzzle

With lots of time to spare, you can get your hands to work on a puzzle. Choose a piece that you can commit to but also presents a challenge. Puzzles come in different difficulty levels, which is often determined by the number of pieces involved. They can be as little as a couple of hundreds to as many as 10,000.

Watch a Movie/Series

Run through your TV queue and finally watch a film or series that you have been putting off. You can organize a movie party with the family and give it a theme. Choose a movie that everyone will enjoy, and preferably those that have sequels. That way, you can settle down and watch them all back-to-back.

Read a Book

In a world that has gone so digital with films and series, you can take a step back to the analogue era and read a book. Begin with a book that engages your interests, and once you get the hang of the practice, move on to others that push your limits. You can opt for eBooks instead of physical options or audiobooks, depending on what floats your boat.

Work on a Skill

Learning a new skill in this day and age is not difficult. You can find many sources on the internet that dive deep into the nitty-gritty details involved in accomplishing something you have always wanted to do. Some of the new skills you can adopt include:

  • Photography
  • Art
  • Playing an instrument
  • Shuffling cards
  • Cooking
  • Baking
  • Dancing

Watch the Sunset

The sunset is a timeless and powerful experience that can be enjoyed every day. Watching a process so life-defining yet so simple transcends the spiritual element, which can have positive and therapeutic effects that inspire healing and creativity. Choose a sweet spot in your home or neighbourhood where you can have a clear view of the sun and sky, and take in the relaxing experience.

Stargaze

Once the sun is down, you can wait around for the sky to be filled with stars and take up your own study of the night sky. This activity is likely to be more fun if you are in an area with little light pollution. Lie on a spot that gives you a full view of the sky and take in the brimless pool of diamonds. Accompany the sight with some relaxing music that guides you through your imagination of the goings-on beyond mother Earth.

Build a Fort

If you built forts as a child, you will be glad to know that it is just as a fun activity to undertake as an adult. You can make the fort out of simple items like pillows and sheets. Add some string lights as well, and you can make it your fun cave from the rest of the family. Personalize it to your taste and let your imagination run.

Work Out

Not many people consider working out as a fun activity, but it is considering the numerous benefits it has in tow. Workouts have been proven to lower stress levels, increase the body’s immune response, and make us more active overall. Make it fun by using dance or yoga workouts, which can easily be found online. Move on to building resistance with things outside of cardio like pushups, burpees, and crunches.

Catch Up with Friends and Family

If you are quarantining away from family and friends, make time to catch up with them through phone calls and video chats. Even if you are stuck at home together, check up on each other to see how well each one is taking the tolls of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Change your Décor

Put any ideas you have that give your home a makeover into action. You can keep things simple by changing the placement of your furniture or art pieces. Such small changes can give your brain something fresh and exciting on which to focus.

Take a Hike

If you trust yourself to take the necessary safety measures, go on a hike. The hike can be up a small hill in your local community or through the woods. Bring your dog or a family member with you for company.

Take a Bubble Bath

A mountain of bubbles in a tub is never a bad idea, especially if you have a lot of free time to embrace. Add some essential oils for extra scent benefits, and bring a book to keep you busy.

Camp in Your Backyard

Raise a tent in your backyard and enjoy the outdoor space for a night or two in the safety of your compound.

Wrap Up

Play your role in helping the world heal from the current pandemic by enjoying these activities and many others without having to spend any cash. Try several of them to keep things fresh for as long as possible.
