Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Saddle up for the East Cleveland Klondike Grand Prix!

IT’S almost here!

The East Cleveland Klondike Grand Prix returns this Sunday and spectators are being advised to get there early for the best view.

The action packed cycling spectacular features some of the country’s best riders competing for glory on the gruelling 90+ mile route.

Beginning and ending in Guisborough’s historic Westgate, the race takes in various East Cleveland towns and villages including Loftus, Skelton, Brotton and Lingdale.

Last year’s inaugural winner, Chris Lathem, is confirmed to defend his title.

The race, part of British Cycling’s Spring Cup, starts at 12 noon, but before that there is the youth race where the cycling stars of tomorrow will be honing their skills.

Councillor Mary Lanigan, Chair of race organiser the East Cleveland Villages Big Local, is encouraging spectators to enjoy the race. “Get there early!” said Mary.

“We’re expecting even more people than the thousands who came to watch the race last year.

“The riders make the race, but the crowds make the spectacle.

“Come along, make as much noise as you can and enjoy a day of fantastic professional cycling, right here on our doorstep.”

The East Cleveland Klondike Grand Prix begins on Guisborough’s Westgate.
