News from British Basketball League: Kostas Jonuška ready to give everything for Raiders

Kostas Jonuška is Raiders 7th off season signing and takes Coach James’ Roster to 10 along side Wilcher, Hassan, Turner, Brandon, Okiki, Ubiaro, Palmer, Johnson and Hyland. 

The 6ft 5′ Lithuanian played in his home country last season for Ezerunas Moletai posting up 15.4 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists per game. The 27 year old shot 61.2 percent from the field last season with additional 34.6 percent from the three point line. 

Some season highlights include a 33 point game against Tauragė and a 30 point game against KTU Kaunas whilst also scoring in double figures in 25 games across the season.

As well as playing 35 games for Ezerunas Moletai last season Kostas also played 9 games for Mazeikiai scoring 6.44 points per game with 4.22 rebounds and 1.33 assists. The small forward has also had a small spell in the top Polish league with King Wilki Morskie Szczecin in the 17/18 season.

Ahead of his move to Plymouth and the BBL Jonuška said, “By joining Plymouth Raiders I believe I’m taking a step forward in my career. I’m excited and thankful for the opportunity to join the organisation. 

“I’m ready to put everything I’ve got to achieve our full potential as a team and show my best performance as a player.”

Head Coach Paul James added, “I’m happy to be able to announce the signing of Kostas Jonuška for the coming season. 

“He has played most of his career in Lithuania and posted some very good stats last season. He is multi positional player who can score in many different ways, defend various positions very well and is a solid rebounder. 

“As with all Lithuanian players I know I’m getting person who is a real competitor and won’t back down to any challenge ahead of him. He’ll leave everything on the court each training session, every game. 

“I’m really looking forward to him joining up with the rest of the team and seeing how things progress from this point on”.
