A DISRUPTIVE tech business, that is transforming the way firms recruit their people, has extended its offer, tapping into people’s values to find the best fit for every role.
Sunderland based technology company, Shine, a video interviewing and pre-hire screening software platform that allows businesses to remotely assess candidates’ suitability for a role before taking them to formal interview, has added values-based assessments to its recruitment platform, which gives firms the opportunity to understand how candidates will fit into their existing team.
The technology uses a 15-minute exercise to benchmark the values inherent in an existing team and generate a unique profile which can then be mapped against the individual values and motivators of the candidate, allowing businesses to make an informed decision about who will provide the best fit.
Managing director of Shine, David Copple, said: “Hiring for values fit is being held up as an extremely effective way for businesses to find the right people to join their team. Working with an occupational psychologist, we have developed a product that addresses some of the issues with old-style psychometric testing. It has been a natural extension to build this in to our existing platform, providing an integrated solution for clients.
“The response so far has been fantastic, and we know – anecdotally – that our clients feel they are better able to make appointments faster, and with confidence, thanks to the convenience and quality of the information they are able to ascertain about the people they interview.”
Set up by technology trailblazer David, Shine offers disruptive technology to change the way firms make their hires. Companies can use it to electronically interview candidates, who can respond in real time or by a set date and time using video technology on their mobile phone, tablet or PC. Responses can then be assessed by the hiring manager at any time, meaning candidates can be evaluated and screened prior to blocking out time for face-to-face meetings or assessment centres.
The firm has seen significant growth since launching in 2016, and boasts an impressive client list, with candidates from some 85 countries using its technology.
Shine offers a range of introductory and bespoke packages, designed to meet the needs of employers with different recruitment needs, and is working with both local and multi-national companies including the likes of Nissan, Reed, Matalan and University of Toronto.
David added: “Shine has gone from strength to strength, but as recruitment techniques move on, it’s vital that Shine stays ahead of the curve, and that’s what this new tool achieves. We’re looking forward to supporting more clients to make the best possible hire for their business.”
The firm is based in Evolve Business Centre, home to a large number of innovative tech companies.
Councillor Harry Trueman, Deputy Leader of Sunderland City Council, said Shine was one of a great many businesses in the city using innovative technology to establish Sunderland as a software city.
He said: “Shine is a fantastic business, but it’s heartening to see that David is not resting on his laurels. Spotting opportunities to expand the functionality of his technology, then quickly taking them to market is something that so many of this city’s businesses do so well.
“We wish David and his team well in exploiting the opportunities this new add on brings to his business.”
