STUDENTS and tutors were among those recognised by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Learning and Skills Service for their hard work, dedication and commitment to education at a special ceremony last week.
The ceremony was held to coincide with the Festival of Learning (formerly Adult Learners’ Week) – a national celebration of lifelong learning.
The Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees, Councillor Ken Dixon and Councillor Jim Beall, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Services and Health, presented the awards to the winners who were nominated for their achievements.
Anne Rucroft scooped overall winner for ‘Tutor of the Year’ while Alan Gough won ‘Overall Learner of the Year’.
The categories and winners were:
- ICT Tutor of the year – Julia Jobling
- Learning Support Officer of the Year – Peter Latham
- Skills for Life Tutor of the Year – Jacqueline Arthur
- Family Learning Tutor of the Year – Sandra Johnston
- ESOL Tutor of the Year – Samira Khan
- Assessor of the Year – Tracy Manton
- Business Support Officer of the Year – Catherine Kelly
- Community Learning Tutor of the Year – Keith Palmer
- Employability Tutor of the Year – Jane Metcalfe
- Skills for Life Learner of the Year – Maureen Corbett
- Family Learning Learner of the Year – Lynsey Tiplady
- Employability Learner of the Year 2016 – Katie Horbury
- Study Programme Learner of the Year – James Stott
- Traineeship Learner of the Year – Amy-Jane Hanrahan
- ICT Learner of the Year – Gillian Fawcett
- Gillian Winship – Community Learner of the Year
- ESOL Learner of the Year – Ali Hussein
Councillor Jim Beall, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Services and Health, said: “Congratulations goes to all those learners and tutors who were fully recognised for all their time, efforts and hard work.
