WASHINGTON’S Princess Anne Park hosts the first area Active Sunderland Community Sports Festival from 12noon to 4pm on Wednesday 27 July.
It is free and part of the Active Sunderland 2016 programme of events and activities and community sports festivals being held in all five areas of the city – East, West, North, Coalfield and Washington.
Working with partners and sports clubs, they are all about increasing the number of people being active.
At the festival everyone is encouraged to take part, free of charge, in a sport or activity they might not usually have chosen and to find out about opportunities to continue taking part in a sport or activity.
Angela Karamath represents Dodgeball North East, a club who have taken part in many previous festivals across the city.
She said: “The Active Sunderland area festivals are a great way to have a go and take part in many different sports free of charge – including Dodgeball!
“I would encourage everyone to come along and see just how many opportunities there are in your area for people of all ages to get active. We look forward to seeing as many people as possible at Princess Anne Park on 27 July.”
All of the activities are free and everyone and activities on the day include:
• Dodgeball North East
• Washington Wolves Volleyball
• Golf Driving Range
• Mini Golf
• Football
• Football Cage
• XL Youth Village
• Traditional sports day games
The next Active Sunderland Community Sports Festival is at Saturday 30 July at various locations within Sunderland city centre from 12noon to 4pm. The festival will once again feature many free activities for all the family.
