The Active Sunderland Community Sports Festival – Free Activities for all the Family!

The next in a series of five Active Sunderland Area Community Sports Festivals takes place at Mowbray Park in Sunderland on Wednesday 17 August from 12noon to 4pm.

Mowbray park is the fourth area community sports festival of the summer and the festivals to date have been a huge success with hundreds of people taking part. At the Festival everyone is encouraged to take part, free of charge, in a sport or activity they might not usually have chosen and to find out more about opportunities to continue taking part .

Working with partners and sports clubs, the aim of the festival programme is to increase the number of people being active across the city. Each area festival offers a wide range of different sporting activities and one of the providers taking part at Mowbray Park is Apollo Trampoline Club.

Bill Leach, head coach at the club said: “Apollo Trampoline Club is delighted to support Active Sunderland and will be attending a number of the community sports festivals over the summer, including Mowbray Park on Wednesday 17 August. The events are a great way for people to try a new sport or activity free of charge”.

He added: “It is a fantastic opportunity for us at the club not only to showcase our sport but also to encourage residents to come along give it a go and perhaps join our club”.

All of the activities are free and include:

• Football Cage
• Cheerleading
• Trampolining
• Fitness Challenge
• Multi Sport zone
• Rugby
• Cricket
• Walking
• Traditional sports day games

The next Active Sunderland Community Sports Festival will take place on Wednesday 24 August at Hetton Lyons Country Park from 12noon to 4.00pm. The festival will once again feature many free activities for all the family.
