Andy Woodman Leaves United

Screen Shot 2015-06-29 at 12.00.00Newcastle United today announced that goalkeeping coach Andy Woodman will leave the club with immediate effect to take on a role at Crystal Palace under Alan Pardew.

Managing Director Lee Charnley said:

“Andy has been a popular member of the coaching staff with us here for almost five years and I would like to place on record our thanks and appreciation to him for his contribution to the club during that time.

“Andy leaves for Crystal Palace with our best wishes for the future.”

Andy Woodman said:

“It has been an honour to work for Newcastle United.  I have thoroughly enjoyed my five years in the North East.  Myself and my family love this city and the region which had become our home.

“It’s been particularly pleasing during my time here to have worked with Tim Krul and played a part in him rising through the ranks to become the club’s first choice goalkeeper and a regular international.

“It is sad to be leaving, but I am also very proud that my son Freddie remains part of the club and I am sure he has a bright future playing for Newcastle.”

The appointment of a new goalkeeping coach will be announced in due course.
