Art Classes aim to Foster Creative Talent in Young People

Screen Shot 2015-08-05 at 12.58.24Cleveland College of Art & Design (CCAD) is offering children and young people the chance to develop their love of all things creative with a series of art and design workshops starting from 12 September until 7 November.

The local art and design college is now offering places to students for its Saturday Club, with a six-week course specifically designed for those aged six to 11 and an older workshop for secondary students aged 12 to 16.

With exciting activities such as painting, drawing, collage, 3D and 2D making, seasonal gifts and animation, the course takes place at the College’s Middlesbrough campus on Green Lane.

The workshops run each term for around six weeks, allowing young people to leave after the course with a finished product, which may help them with their school work. Alternatively students can continue with another term of the Saturday club, as the projects change every term.

Alison Smith-Paul, Short and Professional Courses Manager at CCAD, said: “We have got a fantastic range of activities on offer for children and young people to encourage their creativity, help them develop a new skill and have lots of fun. We are really keen to inspire new talent and ensure that the next generation of artists and designers are on board and the creative industry is boosted further. It is also rewarding for the young artists, as we display their works in a gallery at our college premises in Middlesbrough, which they love seeing.”

The next term starts on Saturday 12 September, from 10am until 1pm and courses cost £50 for the six-week duration. For more information or to book a place, which are limited, please call 01642 288000. Payment can be taken over the phone or settled on the first day of class.
