POPULAR children’s writer Michael Rosen will be making a special appearance in South Bank to celebrate a new collection of poetry by local children
The former Children’s Laureate and author of the best-selling We’re All Going On A Bear Hunt will launch Endeavour, a new anthology of poetry written by primary school children from across the Tees Valley.
The book is the result of poets working with children from 45 primary schools across the region to create poems about travel, discovery, belonging, immigration and emigration and forms a central part of T-Junction III, Teesside annual international poetry festival.
The project was funded by the Tees Valley Combined Authority
Councillor Craig Hannaway, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council Cabinet Member for Children, said:

T-Junction Festival’s Andy Croft said: “Two hundred and fifty years after James Cook sailed around the world on HMS Endeavour, children in local primary schools have been busy writing poems about exploration and adventure, travel and discovery as part of this year’s T-junction international poetry festival.
“Endeavour is a book of poems about departures and arrivals, longing, belonging and coming home. Some of these poems are about exciting journeys to imaginary places, others about discovering yourself and your neighbours. Some are serious and some are silly. In this book every exploration is a poem, and every poem is an exploration; we are all strangers to someone and we are all neighbours to someone else.”
Michael Rosen will launch Endeavour on Wednesday 25 April, 1.30-2.30pm, at Inspire 2 Learn, Normanby Road, South Bank, TS6 9AE
