Starting the 29th of October and running through to July 2019 every primary school in the Bishop Auckland and Shildon area will be offered 8 free weeks of table tennis coaching along with all the needed equipment.
Thanks to funding from the AAP and Bishop Auckland Table Tennis Club, a new apprentice coach has been appointed to deliver in the schools along with two open community sessions at Bishop Auckland Table Tennis Centre at Bishop Barrington School for 7-11-year olds.
The newly appointed apprentice is Ryan Morton who is 22 and UKCC level 1 coach, Ryan has left sided hemiplegia (Cerebral Palsy) has been playing for 4 years and is already undergoing his level 2 coaching badge.
“I love to play table tennis. I play at a good level myself and hope to help others improve or have fun through this great sport and with Bishop Auckland Table Tennis Club. I’m a talkative and cheery person and my biggest achievement would have to be getting on the GB Para squad” – Ryan Morton.

“to get this project started is fantastic – Matt Porter club chairman. “Our mission has always been to get as many people playing table tennis as possible and to use the sport to offer new opportunities which only an active sports club can offer, this project allows us to take table tennis to young people and offer a new sport in the schools.”
The community primary sessions will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from the 30th October and run 5.30-6.30 at Bishop Barringotn School. anyone interested should keep an eye out on our website and Facebook page for start dates. Any schools interested in getting involved should also get in touch with the club.
