Build on two-bed bungalows given the go ahead

County Durham Housing Group has received planning permission to develop two two-bed bungalows in Rookhope.

The new properties will be built on land at Boltsburn Crescent and contribute towards the group’s ambitions to develop much needed homes across the county.

Work is underway to appoint a building contractor for the scheme to start on site during the spring, with a target completion date of early 2018.

Kate Abson, Senior Manager (Regeneration and Commercial Activities) at County Durham Housing Group, said: “We’re delighted that this scheme has been given the go ahead as it will enable us to develop much needed accommodation in one of the most rural areas of the county.

“And this is one of many new build projects we have in development as we aim to provide homes for a range of household needs.”

Most recently the group was awarded an allocation of £6.7m from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) to build 195 across Durham by 2021, in addition to those at Rookhope.
