CELEBRATE and support ‘Made in the Tees Valley‘ at Preston Park Museum & Grounds this Sunday (24 July).
Tees Made is a unique event which will explore the region’s rich history of heritage skills as well as showcasing some of the fantastic modern-day crafts emerging from the Tees Valley.
Visitors can have a go at traditional crafts on the Victorian Street with hands-on demonstrations taking place throughout the day. These will include leather working, pottery, willow weaving, foraging, basket making, rag rugs, quilting and knitting.
Confirmed demonstrators include The Victorian Sweet Kitchen, Cleveland Carving Club and The Willow Barn to name but a few.
Plus, show your support for local craftspeople and shop for unique handmade goods from a range of stalls in the Music Room.
Councillor Norma Wilburn, Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture at Stockton-On-Tees Borough Council, said: “Tees Made is a brilliant opportunity for the people of the Tees Valley to come together and celebrate all the great things hand-crafted in our region from past and present.”
Doors will open at 10am and last entry is at 3.30pm. The event is free with museum entry.
A Family Ticket (two adults and four children) costs £5 and is valid for a year.
Tees Made is supported by River Tees Rediscovered funding, a Heritage Lottery Fund Landscape Partnership.
