Leisure centres and libraries across County Durham recently took part in Macmillan’s Cancer Research coffee morning.
The amount raised included £1600 from Pelton library’s coffee morning and raffles; £1400 from Consett library and another £800 was donated by Chester-le-Street library.
Chester-le-Street leisure centre also raised £400, while £240 came from Freeman’s Quay leisure centre in Durham and £60 was raised by Abbey leisure centre.
The grand total of £4,500 will contribute to providing medical, emotional, practical and financial support. It will also go towards campaigning for better cancer care.
