The topic and discussion about CBD (Cannabidiol) are so hot right now. It is everywhere you can see it in pills, oil, gummies, cream, vape liquid, and you would even in bath bombs. Cannabidiol is one of the most popular cannabinoids that are produced by the marijuana plant. THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) is another one. THC is the reason why people feel euphoria so in simple worlds THC gets you high. So, yes both things are from the same hemp plant and share similar structures. Now, most of the people are asking “does consumption of CBD products get one failed in a drug test?”

These both might share similar structure structures but they act quite differently in the body. According to many studies, CBD does not get one high and it doesn’t produce any of the other classic THC symptoms including dizziness, appetite, concentrating issues, nausea, elevated heart rate, dry mouth, and the munchies. Many studies suggest CBD oil for anxiety as medicine so, what about the drug tests?

Basically, in a drug test, they test for the metabolite of THC in urine so they don’t check for CBD. But is also being said that the structure of CBD and THC are so similar, CBD might be converted to THC by your stomach acid, according to some scientists. Well, this concern was raised by some scientists who carried out this test in the lab but what is the percentage of something like this to happen in a real person is still unknown. After that many studies have fed people pretty high doses of CBD and tested for THC in their blood and stomach contents but found nothing. Still many believe that CBD may change to THC in the stomach due to the acid process. Another cause of the problem could also fewer regulatory steps by FDA for CBD products so, there is no guarantee that you are getting what the label says you are getting.

According to a test done by UPenn doctors in 2017, over 84 CBD oils, tinctures, and vape liquids we tested for the CBD and THC concentrations and found measurable levels of THC in 18 of the samples. The THC levels were low in the products but possibly high enough to set off a drug test. The results of the same study also revealed that only 26 of the samples had CBD levels within 90-110% of what was on the label.

Now when you are in the market to buy CBD products, don’t forget to check the product’s certificate of analysis. Generally, such tests are performed by an independent lab to make sure the label is accurate. While doing so, don’t forget to check whether the lab test for THC or not. Sometimes you may see the high level of THC on the print. One should also check for the product details when they are buying cannabis products like Angel OG Kush. Pay attention to the fact that CBD has not been FDA approved for pain, concentration, stress, depression, anxiety, and many other things it is being advertised for. As of now, it is only approved to treat hard seizures that too as an ingredient in the drug.

So, we are back again to our title question whether CBD consumption can fail you a drug? Well, you are not likely failing the test for marijuana if your CBD product is qualitative and contains only CBD in it excluding THC. It is better to be precautious while buying CBD products as mislabels products may get THC in your body and resulting in failing for tests for marijuana. So, always read the labels, reviews, and buy only high-quality products.
