County Durham Sport is seeking to recruit new independent volunteer trustees to assist in achieving their sporting goals across the County. They are looking to recruit people who share their passion for the positive impact that sport and physical activity can have in improving people’s lives in the community.
County Durham Sport are part of the national network of 43 County Sports Partnerships, who encourage work on behalf of Sport England to promote sport and community activeness in their respective areas. The charity is currently undergoing a large process of transformation, including revised strategic position, alongside executive team and trustee appointments.
While commenting on the ongoing trustee recruitment efforts, Ian Gardiner, Executive Director at County Durham Sport said “We believe in the power of sport and physical activity as a force for good – whether for individuals or communities. We also believe that membership of our Board should reflect County Durham’s diverse community, so we are looking for new, passionate, committed and knowledgeable Trustees, to help us and our partners to make a real difference to people’s lives.”
As always, during this recruitment effort the Durham based organisation will be welcoming applications from people of varying backgrounds across the county. This is part of their commitment to offering and addressing equal opportunities.
The role of a volunteer trustee includes a range of responsibilities including contributing actively to the Board from providing strategic direction to the organisation, to advocating the benefits of sport and physical activity. It is likely that trustees will be required to commit to an average of 8-15 hours of their time – or 1-2 days per month.
Interviews for anyone who is interested in this opportunity will be held on Friday 12th October. Please contact Ian Gardiner for an informal chat on 07860 503996.
