MIDDLESBROUGH’S Dorman Museum is hosting a striking photographic exhibition over the next three months.

And this week there’s a chance to meet artist Kev Howard at the museum at a special event on Saturday (January 21).

d-FORMED is an autobiographical and highly personal series of visually striking photographs, comprising challenging and beautiful images that embody disability and the surgical experience.

Many disabled people undergo surgery during their lifetimes simply to be able to function.

It is a physically and emotionally painful experience, often hidden by the taboo of disability.

Kev Howard’s powerful yet sensitive images will challenge the viewer to think about disability in differing ways, highlighting the very human experience and impact of surgery.

All are invited to come along to the exhibition on Saturday, January 21 and meet the artist between 10.30am and 2pm.

Kev will also be holding two Q&A sessions from 11am to noon and 1pm to 2pm, giving visitors a chance to find out how the exhibition was developed, the photography or even about going through surgical procedures.

 Meet the Artist takes place on Saturday, January 21 at the Dorman Museum in Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough, TS5 6LA. Tea and coffee will be provided and all are welcome.

d-FORMED runs until Sunday, April 23. For further information, call the museum on 01642 358100.
