Screen Shot 2015-10-26 at 13.35.22DANIEL Robinson, Chairman of Gus Robinson Developments Ltd, has been crowned as one of the UK’s best businessmen at a glittering awards ceremony in London.

Daniel, who took over the running of the company in 2011 following the tragic death of his father Gus, was named as the winner of the SME Company Director of the Year at the Institute of Directors ceremony in London.

The category was open to directors of smaller companies, and Daniel beat off competition from 13 other directors from around the UK to take the honour.

Speaking after the ceremony, which was held at the Lancaster London Hotel, Daniel said: “I’m absolutely delighted to win this award. We have had an excellent couple of years, and it is always nice to be recognised in this way.

“There were some excellent entrants in all of the categories, so it was quite an honour to just make the shortlist.

“But to get the main award in such a prestigious ceremony is one of the highlights of my career, and it is testament to the hard work and commitment shown by everybody within the company.”

Since taking over the running of the business, Daniel has masterminded an impressive growth and Gus Robinson Developments Ltd is now recognised as one of the most successful construction firms in the North East.

A spokesman for the Institute of Directors said: “The IoD holds these awards every year because we believe in the value of leadership.

“In big corporates, small businesses, the public sector, charities, the difference between success and failure is leadership.

“Directors who win these awards have been recognised as the best in their field by the organisation for business leaders, the IoD.”
