World-famous a capella group The King’s Singers are heading to Durham Cathedral on Monday 30 January to sing as part of the first ever Durham Vocal Festival, a showcase for the finest vocal music from the North East and beyond.

Instantly recognisable for their immaculate intonation, close harmony vocal blend, diction and incisive timing, The King’s Singers are in global demand, touring across Europe, North and South America, Asia and Australasia performing to hundreds of thousands of people each season.

With a wide and varied repertoire, the Durham Cathedral concert will feature music from the wonderful British Choral tradition, the great Romantics and one of today’s greatest choral composers (and former King’s Singer) Bob Chilcott. The programme also includes a beautiful piece from South African composer van Dijk, written for the group and the evening will close with much-loved King’s Singers classics.

Recently voted into the Gramophone Hall of Fame and with two Grammy Awards to their name, rave reviews and sell-out concerts confirm that The King’s Singers remain one of the world’s finest vocal ensembles and their date in the majestic setting of Durham Cathedral is one not to be missed.

The King’s Singers performance at Durham Cathedral is part of the inaugural Durham Vocal Festival, which runs from 28 January to 4 February. The festival also features a performance of the Defiant Requiem: Verdi at Terezin at Durham Cathedral, an evening with The National Youth Choirs of Great Britain Fellowship Octet at Ushaw College and a come and sing workshop with one of the country’s foremost composers and choral conductors Will Todd, as well as many other workshops and performances.
