Dementia Care appoints new CEO

North East charity, Dementia Care, has welcomed Fraser Quin as its new chief executive officer.

In his new role, Dr Quin will be overseeing the strategic direction of the North East’s leading specialist dementia charity.

Dementia Care is a Newcastle-based charity that provides specialist care, support and advice to people with dementia

The charity runs specialist day centres in Newcastle upon Tyne and Hexham and provides a range of services for those with dementia and their families.

Dr Quin, said: “I am really looking forward to leading such a worthwhile organisation and playing my part, alongside the staff and Trustees in helping shape its future. Dementia Care is the region’s leading specialist dementia charity and our broad and innovative approach, from our specialist housing to our day centres in Newcastle and Hexham and the respite facility, offer the very best care and support. “

Fraser Quin’s previous experience involves being Chief Executive of the Eric Liddell Centre, a dementia and elderly care charity in Edingburgh.  Dr Quin was also the director of the Edinburgh Care Partnership, a company developed to deliver Care at Home Services on behalf of Edinburgh City Council, for the elderly and those with chronic conditions such as dementia.

Dr Quin will be joining Dementia Care most recently from Sealladh Na Beinne Moire (SnBM), where he had overall strategic responsibility for a 93,000 hectare estate and a £33 million asset register and 30 strong team.

As part of his duties at SnBM, he was also chief executive officer at three of its subsidiary companies, Storas Uibhist, Lochboisdale Development Ltd and South Uist Renewable Energy Ltd.
