Tenants are being invited to a free course that will ease the pressures that running a household can bring.
East Durham Homes’ ‘Tenancy Awareness’ session, on Wednesday, 16 March between 1.30pm and 4pm, aims to guide residents through the housing process, from applying for a new home to their roles and responsibilities once they move in.
Ian Straughan, Customer Involvement Officer, thinks this is a great session for residents, no matter what stage they are at in the rehousing process.
He said: “Running a home, whether for the first time or not, is a huge responsibility. Not only do you have to deal with the everyday scenarios that life throws at you, but there are also financial implications and rights and responsibilities as a tenant.
“This is an informal session for anyone who feels they are struggling to maintain their tenancy or would just like some support, including advice on the different ways to pay your rent and staying safe at home.”
Transport to attend the course at the landlord’s head office in Peterlee can be arranged, and shopping vouchers will be offered to those who take part.
Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis – for more information call 0800 032 0835 or email customerinvolvement@eastdurhamhomes.co.uk
