The Advanced Manufacturing Forum is hosting an event, Funding and Grants for Innovation, which will provide North East manufacturers with funding advice and guidance.

The Finance Forum, which will be held May 31 2017 in partnership with chartered accountants Tait Walker, will see guest speakers share their expertise and knowledge of the financial assistance available to manufacturers.

Speakers will include: Michael Vassallo, investment director at private equity and asset management firm Maven Capital Partners, who will discuss the funding that Maven Capital Partners has available for businesses across the region through various new investment funds, which have been established locally. Michael will be joined by Anthony Appleton, director at Green Power (Global) Limited and consultant assessor for Innovate UK, who will provide tips for submitting grant applications to the organisation.

Established by the private sector to offer a single voice on behalf of the manufacturing community, the AMF is now the largest manufacturing forum in the North East, engaging with members and the wider business community to exchange ideas and knowledge to create business growth and success opportunities within the manufacturing industry.

Tait Walker is an independent accountancy practice with offices across the North East, including Newcastle, Teesside and Northumberland. The firm offers a range of accountancy and advisory services to large corporates, owner managed businesses and individuals.

Jack Hanwell, AMF manufacturing sector development manager, said: “We are dedicated to providing our members with a wide range of advice and support and the Finance Forum is a critical tool in doing so.

“The guest speakers at this event are of a high calibre, and I am confident the knowledge and guidance they will share with members will prove invaluable.”

Alastair Wilson, tax partner at Tait Walker, said: “This event will provide North East manufacturers with an understanding of where they can access grants and funding, and will provide detailed information on the funding available through the Northern Powerhouse.

“We pride ourselves on the high-quality of service we offer our clients, many of who work within the manufacturing sector. Therefore, to work with the Advanced Manufacturing Forum which provides its members with guidance and knowledge that they can utilise to benefit their business, and the North East manufacturing industry, is very important to us.

“Michael and Anthony are experts in their fields and we are delighted that they will be joining us at this event to share their insight with AMF members.”

The AMF also hosts monthly meetings for members as well as a quarterly HR Forum held in joint venture with law firm Ward Hadaway, a Process Improvement Group which is held in partnership with lean manufacturing consultancy Tool and Die Kaizen and it recently launched a Marketing Club with its strategic marketing partner, Horizonworks.

2016 saw the forum attract the highest number of new members in its history and it has also undergone a brand refresh which saw the AMF website and logo modernised to reflect the Forum’s increasing market presence in the North East.

The event, which is free to attend, will be held Wednesday 31 May 2017 from 12-2pm at One Trinity Green, Eldon Street, South Shields, NE33 1SA, and is open to all manufacturing companies in the North East.
