Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Godfrey Syrett delivers fit-out for new National College for Nuclear building in Cumbria

Godfrey Syrett has completed a major furniture installation at the newly built National College for Nuclear (NCfN) northern hub at Lakes College in Cumbria.

The flagship £7.5m college is one of five proposed National Colleges, delivering high-level technical training to thousands of learners across England.

North East furniture designer & manufacturer, Godfrey Syrett, won the contract following a competitive tender and has kitted out the building with a range of furniture from its education portfolio, including a variety of tables, desks, storage solutions and soft seating including classroom and industrial lab chairs.

Tim Fagan, area sales manager at Godfrey Syrett said: “The new college is a fantastic building and we are delighted to have been selected to deliver this local project. We worked closely with the facilities management team at the college to ensure their brief was met. It was important the fit-out provided a modern aesthetic, using bright, vibrant colours and contemporary yet practical furniture for the end users.”

John Irving, facilities manager at NCfN added: “Our new state-of-the-art college has been designed to create the ‘workforce of tomorrow’ for the Nuclear industry.  Godfrey Syrett played an important role in helping create practical and visually attractive learning spaces, which will welcome the first group of learners in January 2018.

He continued: “It’s great to see the college now fully complete, enabling us to provide qualifications which reflect the needs of the nuclear sector and address the skills challenge facing the nuclear industry and its supply chain. NCfN demonstrates the UK’s commitment to placing nuclear at the heart of its industrial strategy for the 21st century.”

The college features a virtual reality suite which will allow learners to experience nuclear installations in a virtual environment, science and radiation laboratories and specialised design and modelling suites.

Godfrey Syrett has worked extensively throughout the education sector since it was first established 70 years ago and recently completed a six-figure contract for the National College for High Speed Rail, fitting out its two new campuses in Doncaster & Birmingham.
