Lucky winner Lisa Guthrie was presented with a £1000 Mulberry bag by Handbag Clinic, along with Gogglebox and Capital FM star Scarlett Moffatt.
Lisa scooped first prize at a special VIP fashion night at one of Newcastle’s newest venues, after entering a competition run by Handbag Clinic and Capital.
The mum-of-two runs her own blog Tried and Tested as well as regularly appearing on Made in Tyne and Wear’s Chatty Lasses while also finding time for her day job as dental practice manager.
Lisa, from Consett, County Durham, said: “I thought I hadn’t made it to the final but I got a last-minute call on the day to say someone couldn’t go so I could attend. It was tricky securing a babysitter so I almost didn’t go, but I’m so glad I did.”
Fifty finalists, with a guest each, were invited to the VIP evening at AVIEKA on Newcastle’s Quayside. Contestants were whittled down to two before they answered a tie breaker on the night with the winner taking home a red Mulberry Bayswater Double Zip Tote.
Lisa won after being closest to guess the retail price of three designer handbags and the amount you would pay at Handbag Clinic for the same bags. The retail price was £3075 and Handbag Clinic’s price was £1470, with Lisa guessing to within £115 and taking home the prize.
Runner up Claire Hunter will receive a make-over courtesy of Glam Squad Express.
Repair specialist and pre-loved handbag boutique Handbag Clinic recently opened on Newcastle’s Mosely Street.
Charlotte Staerck, Handbag Clinic Purchasing Manager, said: “We’ve had such a fantastic response since our launch in Newcastle, and it soon became apparent that Mulberry was the most requested brand here in the North East.
“So an event not only to showcase our latest pre-owned and vintage finds, but to give one of our customers the chance to win a Mulberry was the perfect way to celebrate our first six months on Mosley Street.”
The evening also featured a fashion show with accessories from Handbag Clinic, clothes from Novo London and hair and make-up courtesy of Glam Squad Express, along with pop up shops.
Charlotte added: “It was fantastic to see so many customers, fashion journalists and bloggers on the evening. We had handbags, Scarlett Moffatt, Prosecco, canapes and a great venue, which all came together to make up an absolutely fantastic night. We can’t wait to start organising our next event.”
Lisa said: “I love my handbags and my shoes. When the tiebreaker came up, I really thought about it before writing down my answer. My new bag has added to my Mulberry collection so it’s definitely found a good home. I got the chance to meet Scarlett Moffatt, I’ve taken home a Scarlett Mulberry and I’m now off to buy some red shoes to match.”
