North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Headline act was a stand up success in Northallerton and free workshop for would be performance poets

Over 60 people attended Hambleton’s second spoken word gig.

‘Ey Up Stand Up’ hosted by Kate Fox, Thirsk based comedian and regular on Radio 4 saw York-born, London-based stand up and poet Rob Auton who was once voted to have the best joke at the Edinburgh Fringe, up and coming poet Kirsty Taylor from Bradford and Rowan McCabe, a Newcastle based performance poet entertained the audience from start to finish.

“We are delighted that the Arts Council is funding these events” said Councillor Mrs Bridget Fortune, Portfolio Holder for Customer and Leisure Services.

“It is fantastic to be able to offer a night of comedy on our doorstep with such good performers at such a reasonable price. If you haven’t been, then I urge you not to miss the next one.”

A free workshop is taking place at Northallerton Library on Saturday 16 April between 2 and 4pm for ‘would be performance poets’ with Kate Fox.
