Looking to improve recycling rates, an environmental charity will be calling at borough homes on behalf of North Tyneside Council.
From early October, Groundwork will chat to householders in areas where participation in recycling is lower than other places in North Tyneside.
Speaking to residents on behalf of the local authority, they’ll talk about what can and can’t be recycled at home and provide wheelie bin stickers that also explain. They’ll be giving away free recycling bags and pens, too.
The team will also ask residents whether they’d like to sign-up to the Wash, Squash and Recycle initiative.
Funded by the Department of Communities and Local Government’s Weekly Collection Support Scheme, the initiative encourages residents to pledge to recycle, and in return, they are entered into a prize draw.
The team will be visiting homes, many of which are in new estates, within Northumberland Park, Palmersville, Killingworth, North Shields and Hadrian Park areas.
