Homes in high demand across York

ByEmily

Jan 2, 2017

Homes across York are proving to be in high demand according to Housebuilder Barratt Developments. Currently utilising priority brown field land available within the city, the housebuilder, which includes both the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands, has seen a new surge of interest as we move into 2017.

  • Having already sold out of its Barratt Homes development The Meadows, based in Huntington, within a matter of months, the Housebuilder has launched the final quarter of its iconic eco development Derwenthorpe under the David Wilson Homes brand
  • The development, which is multi-award winning, has also proved highly popular and has sold in record time – with only the final Rowntree Quarter now available to purchase
  • In a bid to ease the growing demand for homes across the city, David Wilson Homes has invested in nearby towns and villages – including the launch of Saxon Gate at Stamford Bridge, which successfully launched its show homes to eager buyers very recently
  • Barratt Developments currently has a total of nine new build sites within a 30-minute drive of York
  • This includes David Wilson Homes’ developments The Chocolate Works on York’s South Bank, Derwenthorpe situated off Meadlands, The Pastures in Knaresborough, Pavilion Square in Pocklington, Saxon Gate in Stamford Bridge and Barley Fields in Barlby
  • Barratt Homes’ developments in the area include St. Wilfred’s Walk in Brayton and Barley Fields, Barlby.

Paul Hogan, Sales Director of Barratt Developments Yorkshire East, comments:

“It’s no secret that York has a shortage of quality homes available on the market, however as we move into the New Year and interest peaks, the real need for homes really comes to light. We sold out at our Meadows development in Huntington within record time, and we have already sold four homes at our new Rowntree Quarter at Derwenthorpe, which only launched at the beginning of January. The Chocolate Works has also seen a huge number of sales – it’s clear that there’s a real appetite for quality first time, family and downsizer homes across the city.”

“We’re working hard with the council to help ensure a Local Plan is put in place as soon as possible, in turn providing future of housing across the city that as sustainable as possible. We’re in an unprecedented position where interest levels for homes in the city are sky high and we have customers queuing for homes. The sales we’ve seen at our Barratt development The Meadows is a perfect example of this. In the meantime we’re putting as much emphasis as possible on delivering sustainable and high quality homes for the community – and it seems this approach is proving more than popular.”
