For the last year East Durham Homes has been fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Society as its chosen chair’s charity.

Through bake sales, raffles, dress down days and more the landlord has raised this substantial amount for this worthy cause.

Michael Bell, Chair of East Durham Homes’ Board, said: “We chose this charity for our fundraising efforts as it affects so many people in different ways, and I am delighted with the contribution our employees have made.”

Lucy King, Community Fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Society, said: “Dementia can happen to anyone, with around 850,000 people across the UK living with the condition.

“There’s currently no cure and we believe passionately that life doesn’t end when dementia begins.

“The commitment of East Durham Homes to our cause is very gratefully received and will go towards helping local people and their families where dementia is part of their everyday lives.”
