“Late” Easter Lafflang Set for Sring Fun

Screen Shot 2015-04-09 at 15.34.55The “Late” Easter Laffalang will be making the place rock with laughter next week (April 24 and 25) with guest appearances from Humpty Dumpty, the Easter Bunny, the 12 disciples and dozens more characters in 15 original sketches.

The Easter Laffalang, which takes place at the Westovian Theatre in Ocean Road, South Shields, on Friday and Saturday, April 24 and 25will be the fifth in the series and such is its growing status, comedian Chris Ramsay did three minutes of new material at the Valentine Laffalang in February.

The show, which will comprise sketches based on a Spring and Easter theme, is written by South Shields playwright Ed Waugh and will be compered by top North East comedian Lee Kyle.

Gareth Hunter, Laffalang producer, said: “The way people are supporting the Laffalang now is phenomenal. From a standing start 15 months ago, we are getting between 300 and 400 people along, which is fantastic.

“It is supposed to finish around 9.30 but often we have to curtail the show an hour later because of sustained laughter.

“It’s a fantastic occasion and has developed a real party atmosphere.”

The “Late” Easter Laffalang cast will comprise regulars Bob Stott, Paul Dunn, Rosie Ramsey, Hazel Pude,  Stephen Sullivan and Sunderland-born actor Luke Maddison, who will be making his Laffalang debut.

Paul Dunn recently won an award for his one-man show I Left My Heart in Roker Park.

Gareth Hunter added: “We are also very excited about working on a comedy writing talent search with the wonderful Sunday for Sammy charity in the summer, and anyone interested in being involved should visit http://www.sundayforsammy.org/laffalang.html

Tickets for the “Late” Easter Laffalang cost £10 and are available from the Visitor Information Centre in Haven Point Sports Centre. Telephone (0191) 4247788.
