Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

A GROWING communications consultancy has announced its latest business win.

LEC Communications and Design has been awarded a three-year contract to deliver the Durham Oktoberfest Incubator Zone project.

The Incubator Zone, which is being managed by Business Durham’s Durham Business Opportunities Programme and the County Durham Engineering and Manufacturing Network (CDEMN), is aimed at micro firms and new starts who employ less than ten people.

The aim is to encourage smaller companies who have links with the engineering and manufacturing sectors to exhibit at Oktoberfest.

LEC, which is based at Novus Business Centre in Peterlee, will help identify eligible businesses, provide a package of training and support to help prepare them for the exhibition. This will include the design and provision of marketing materials to help the businesses create a professional presentation of their offering.

LEC Managing Director Leanne English said: “I am delighted that we have been awarded this three-year contract, just weeks before we celebrate our five-year business milestone.

“As a small business ourselves we know how valuable networking and face to face engagement is, but also how intimidating it can be to people who haven’t done it before.

“With our support, Incubator Zone exhibitors can take full advantage of their involvement in Oktoberfest by meeting potential new clients and having the confidence to promote their business in what is undoubtedly the region’s biggest shop window for the engineering and manufacturing sectors.”

LEC Communications and Design was launched by former journalist and communications and marketing professional Leanne English in 2012 and now counts some of the region’s biggest companies among its client portoflio, including NSK Bearings, Mecaplast, ZF TRW, Astley and D&S Services.

The company has been the Oktoberfest communications partner since 2013, playing an instrumental role in its growth each year and helping attract some of the area’s most high profile business men and women as speakers.

CDEMN Chairman David Land said: “We are delighted to be working with LEC in an even greater event capacity to ensure the inaugural Incubator Zone is a huge success.

“We believe this addition is exactly what our event needs and opens up Oktoberfest to a whole new market of potential exhibitors – micro firms and new starts who have historically been put off exhibiting becaue they haven’t done so before and find the prospect daunting.

“With LEC’s support the companies who sign up are guaranteed to meet potential new clients, equipped with the marketing tools and confidence to capitalise on these opportunities which will hopefully lead to future growth.”

Businesses must be able to demonstrate a link to the engineering and manufacturing sectors, whether that’s through the products they make or services they supply, or that their current client base includes employers within these sectors.

Businesses across County Durham who meet the criteria can book a space, with 15 stands available within the Incubator Zone.
