Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Medical Architecture Expanding Into Housing Sector After London Acquisition

A specialist North East architectural practice is planning to expand into new markets after completing the acquisition of a London firm.

Medical Architecture is an award-winning design practice which focuses on the design and planning of healthcare environments, including hospitals, specialist care centres and integrated care facilities.

The 28 year-old practice, which has an office on Collingwood Street in central Newcastle as well as one in London, has now acquired TM Architects as part of plans to build its presence in the housing sector, in which TM Architects has a strong track record across South East England.

The acquisition adds significant resources and expertise to the Medical Architecture team, which are necessary for its expansion plans.

Legal advice on the acquisition was provided by Mark Adams, partner in the corporate team at Hay & Kilner Law Firm, while Robson Laidler advised on the financial aspects of the deal.

Paul Yeomans, a director at Medical Architecture, says: “Having long-established ourselves as one of the leading practices within our sector, we took the strategic decision to look to broaden the range of services we offer and projects we can undertake.

“We’ve worked with TM Architects in the past and know the practice well, so were certain that it offered both the right fit with our character and the experience and expertise that will support our development plans.

“Bringing the two firms together creates a very strong proposition that we feel will enable us to continue to grow in both new and existing markets over the coming years.

“The support and advice we’ve had from the Hay & Kilner and Robson Laidler teams around completing this deal has been highly professional, and helped make the acquisition process a smooth and manageable one for all parties.”

Mark Adams, partner at Hay & Kilner Law Firm, adds: “Medical Architecture has an excellent reputation within its specialist areas of expertise, and this acquisition is an exciting one which will provide it with the resources to expand into other areas as part of its strategic plans.

“We’re very pleased to have been able to help Paul and his team on this particular project and look forward to seeing the expanded practice go from strength to strength.”
