A Teesside-based homebuilder is helping to keep local children safe this winter by donating bright hi-vis vests to pupils at Chilton Primary School in County Durham, ensuring they’re seen during the darker evenings and mornings.

Miller Homes, which has developments across Teesside, County Durham and North Yorkshire, and its Windlestone Point development close to the school, donated the child size hi-vis vests to make children who walk to and from school more visible.  The school will also be using them when taking the children off site on visits and trips to help to make them easily identifiable in busy places.

“As the darker nights draw in, it’s more important than ever to make sure children can be clearly seen on their way to and from school,” said Donna Clark, Sales Director at Miller Homes Teesside. “We’re always keen to support our local schools and help families stay safe, whether that’s on the daily school run or during educational trips.”

Now in its sixth year Miller Homes Teesside continues to help children across the region stay visible and protected near roads through its Home Safe initiative.

“We want the children in our communities to be as safe as possible but understand that walking to and from school unsupervised is something many do as they get a little older,” said Donna. “By learning the rules of the road, and safe walking practices when they are younger, and the addition of a hi-vis vest, we hope that they will reap the benefits and enjoyment of walking home safe.”

Miller Homes currently has ten developments across the region offering a wonderful selection of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes.
