A North East geoenvironmental engineering specialist has appointed a new graduate engineer as it ramps up operations to meet strong demand.

The move sees Tom Johnson join RWO’s Geotechnical Department as a geotechnical and environmental engineer based at the firm’s Stokesley office.

A graduate of Keele University, he will be an integral part of a rapidly growing geoenvironmental team, providing support on the design and preparation of geotechnical design solutions for clients, who include national housebuilders and developers, reviewing reports and ensuring technical compliance.

Tom will also contribute to a variety of projects, working under the supervision of senior staff in both the field and the office. Other tasks will include geohazard assessments, desk studies, site walk overs, planning, supervising and reporting on ground investigations and assisting with the preparation of specifications and reports.

The appointment comes as RWO’s geoenvironmental department is targeting £1 million in revenues next year as commercial operators and property developers bring forward their investment and regeneration plans.

Additional geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineers will continue to be recruited as part of a drive to attract experienced talent to the business.

Department head and director Chris Rudd said: “We are building an experienced and dedicated geotechnical team and Tom will be a big addition to this. We look forward to his contributions in continuing to elevate and expand our capabilities across the UK.”
