New RHS Course Launched At Houghall Campus

East Durham College are delighted to announce they are offering an exciting new Royal Horticultural Society course.

The RHS Level 3 certificate in the principles of garden planning, construction and planting is a two-year part time course based at the college’s Houghall campus.

The course is set to start on 3rd November and will run one night a week, every Thursday.

The first session will take place between 6.30pm and 9pm, with all other sessions after running from 6pm to 9pm.

You will take in four main topic areas during your time on the course, these are understanding the selection and use of landscaping elements in the garden, understanding garden survey techniques and design principles, understanding the setting out and construction of landscaping elements in and understanding a range of specialist elements in the establishment of garden and urban plantings.

East Durham College horticulture lecturer, Dave Scott, is excited to be able to offer this new course from the Houghall campus.

Dave said: “This is a fantastic new course that is certified by the Royal Horticultural Society.

“They have put together some great topics that can help you develop your career to a supervisory or management role in the industry, or simply just further develop your interest in the subject as an amateur gardener.

“We have a fantastic team, including Tony Milan who will be delivering the course, and facilities at the Houghall campus to help you get the most from the course and help you successfully complete the qualification.”

The price for the whole course is £1,150 with an additional exam fee of £100.
