Lauren and Fran_The BotanistHOT on the heels of setting a global world record for launch day sales for Dr. Martens retail store rollout, Newcastle integrated PR, digital and creative communications agency, O PR has managed yet another record-breaking client launch campaign.

New World Trading Company appointed O PR in December to manage its launch of The Botanist, which has resulted in the most successful venue opening ever for the leisure operator.

A record-breaking 10,000 diners enjoyed The Botanist in Newcastle during December, which generated a huge buzz on social media with 10,000 Facebook likes in less than a month of opening.

Set across the top two floors of the Monument Mall development, the impressive 8,000sq ft bar and restaurant venue has created around 100 new jobs in the region.

It is the fifth Botanist to open and marks the company’s expansion into the North East, alongside its four existing operations in Leeds, Manchester, Chester and Alderley Edge.

The Botanist boasts nine bar stations, an extensive drinks menu serving over 50 different bottled beers and ciders, cask ales and 48 cocktails – plus unrivalled views of the city from its terrace area. Food is simple and fun, and comes from the deli, rotisserie and barbeque and is available all day, every day.

Key channels for O PR’s launch campaign included blogger and media relations, local business engagement and social media activity.

Kari Owers, managing director at O PR, said: “Helping businesses expand and launch into new territories is one of our strengths, and we are delighted to have helped another market leader break a record not just for generating PR awareness, but real tangible sales figures, thanks to our campaign activity.

“The Botanist is exactly the type of business we love to work with, as they trusted our ideas on how to really get people talking in Newcastle for their opening – it’s a fantastic product in a superb location but the city centre has seen a raft of new venues opening so we were clear from the outset we really had to cut through any noise and make it THE place to be seen right from the get go.”

Chris Hill, managing director of New World Trading Company, said: “Our launch onto Newcastle’s leisure and hospitality scene has been an exciting one – the busy Christmas season kicked started what was an incredibly successful month for trading and our expectations have been exceeded ever since.

“We’re looking forward to what the next phase will bring for The Botanist as we continue to embed ourselves in the heart of the city’s social scene and prepare for some exciting developments to the roof terrace area of the venue, in the spring.”
