Newcastle restaurant serves up artistic flair this New Year’s Eve

A local restaurant is pairing contemporary art with exquisite food for the most stylish of endings to 2016.

artisan, located in The Biscuit Factory – the UK’s largest arts, craft and design gallery – has created a special New Year’s Eve tasting menu using the finest selection of locally sourced, seasonal produce.

On arrival, guests will enjoy a selection of canapes and a glass of Champagne, served in the beautiful surroundings of the art gallery, which is housed in a former Victorian warehouse and is currently exhibiting artwork from more than 200 artists.

Diners will then be led through to the a la carte restaurant and indulge in the award-winning head chef’s five-course tasting menu. This includes an amuse-bouche and a starter of citrus cured salmon with crab salad, fennel and grapefruit, followed by sirloin of beef with croustillant of oxtail, bone marrow, onion and thyme. The meal will round off with a pre-dessert and a pave of dark chocolate accompanied by orange and almond ice cream.

Lauren McKirdy, Acting Restaurant Manager says: “This will be the perfect evening for foodies seeking something extra special this New Year’s Eve. Not only is this a rare opportunity to explore the art gallery after dark in such an intimate setting, but it’s also a chance to enjoy our head chef’s signature cooking and see out 2016 in style.”

The New Year’s Eve menu is priced at £65 per person. The tasting menu and accompanying flight of wine are priced at £85 per person. Arrivals in the gallery take place between5pm and 8pm, with dinner served 6pm to 8pm. The restaurant closes at 11pm.
