Nortech Group, the international Engineering Design, Management Consultancy and Staffing Search and Selection company based in the North East of England, has marked the first anniversary of its ‘Nortech Cares’ initiative with a prestigious civic award.
The company, which has its head office in Wynyard, Tees Valley, was honoured with a Service to the Community Award in the business category at the Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees’ Annual Civic Awards.
Launched in 2015, Nortech Cares was created as a platform for the company’s fundraising activities, which, over the past five years, raised in excess of £32,000.
The Corporate Social Responsibility initiative supports two fundraising campaigns each year for charities and good causes based in Tees Valley and further afield.
During its first year, Nortech Cares supported MacMillan Cancer Support and the Hope4Nell campaign, which helped two-year-old Nell Ramsey from Billingham who was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome at the end of 2014.
Nortech Cares also holds a number of one-off charity fundraisers each year, including ‘Antlers for Autism’ at Christmas to raise money for the Daisy Chain Charity. It also hosts an annual Golf Day and Shoot, which regularly raises in excess of £5,000.
The Mayor, Councillor Ian Dalgarno, who presented Nortech with its award at the Council’s Annual Meeting at Billingham Forum, said: “It’s very inspiring to meet such dedicated people who freely give their time and energy to make their communities, and the Borough as a whole, a better place. I’m delighted to honour all of the winners and say thank you on behalf of all the residents of Stockton-on-Tees.”
Bryan Bunn, Managing Director of Nortech Group, said: “We are very proud to receive this prestigious award from the Mayor. We are an international company that is committed to the communities where we are based and are keen to support important local causes and charities that serve our area.
“This award not only recognises the achievements of Nortech, but also the dedication of our staff and the commitment of our customers, suppliers and partners who have been so generous with their support of our fundraising.”
