NORTH-EAST businesses are backing a sponsored cycle ride in aid of charity that helps families throughout the region.

Fundraisers at the North East Autism Society (NEAS) have expressed their gratitude to the businesses supporting its upcoming sponsored cycle ride, and are still inviting more organisations to get involved.

To date, Gama Systems North East Ltd., Cleardata UK Ltd., and Activa Contracts have pledged to support the 162-mile bike ride, which will take place in August.

As well as sponsoring the challenge, Bob Wood, Deputy Managing Director of Cleardata UK Ltd., will be taking part as a cyclist. He said: “The backing of the North-East business sector is so important in supporting community-based charities in these difficult times. This is why I’m placing my support behind this much needed cause.”

The ride, which will mark the charity’s 40th anniversary, will take riders across four counties and take two days to complete. The route has been designed so that riders will trace the shape of the charity’s infinity loop logo across the North.

Kevin Meikle, fundraising manager for NEAS, said: “We aimed to do something even bigger and better than out first sponsored cycle last year, and Ride Infinity definitely fulfils that goal.

“We want to say a massive ‘thank you’ to the businesses that have pledged their support, and to all the cyclists who have signed up to join us – their help is going to help supercharge our vital work supporting families across the North-East.

“We are still hoping that some more business will come onboard to help the event reach its full potential – in return, we’ll proudly display their logos on our kit, website, social media, and celebrate them in all media coverage.

“Together, we can accomplish so much more than any of us could alone.”

Anyone interested in taking part in or sponsoring Ride Infinity is asked to contact Sophie Clarke on 0191 4109 974 , or email sophie.clarke@ne-as.org.uk.
