A NORTH EAST dental surgery has consolidated its position as one of the best in the UK, after chalking up another win at the country’s most prestigious awards.
Sunderland’s Riveredge Cosmetic Dentistry is a regular winner at the Aesthetic Dentistry Awards, beating practices from across the UK and Ireland.
And that has been the case this time round, with the city centre-based surgery honoured in the Restorative Full Mouth Rehabilitation category at the ceremony held in London on Friday (22 March).
The awards recognise the very best in aesthetic dentistry across the UK and Ireland, with Riveredge’s dentists – Dr Ken Harris and Dr Richard Coates – also shortlisted in a total of 6 different categories.
“This is the first time we have won this particular category so it was very exciting to have been singled out,” said Dr Harris.
“These awards are always strongly contested so the fact that we continue to win year on year is testimony to the great work we do at Riveredge.”
In the past years Riveredge has won more than 20 awards, including last year being named as the top cosmetic dentist practice in the UK and Ireland.
The 2019 win was for a complex case involving 27-year-old Brad Miller, who had severely worn down teeth – a serious and unusual problem given his age.
Not only did Riveredge spend months correcting his bite, but then Dr Harris went on to build up his teeth, initially with a composite resin material until he got used to the changes in his mouth.
The resin was then finally replaced by porcelain.
Riveredge Cosmetic Dentistry has a world-renowned reputation, with Dr Harris (BDS, MFGDP, FFGDP RCS (Eng), MSc Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry) one of only two Fellows of the British Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry (BACD) and who regularly lectures to dentists around the globe.
He is recognised as one of the leaders in the field of cosmetic dentistry, often being brought in by other practices to handle complex cases.
