A County Durham shipping container and self-storage businesses has made a key appointment as part of plans to extend its foothold throughout the UK. The Parsons Containers Group, which has its head office in Sedgefield, has appointed Mark Nicol as business development manager as it forges ahead with strategic plans to repeat the success it has seen in the North East, Lincolnshire and other regions.
Mark joins Parsons with a group-wide remit, having spent over 22 years in commercial roles, working with leading brands including Kellogg’s, GlaxoSmithKline and most recently Kerry Foods, where he was commercial manager and prior to that, business development manager. He is now set to apply his expertise across the Parsons’ full range of operations to develop strategies that will take the business forward in its next stage of growth.
Commenting on the appointment, 42-year-old Mark, who lives in Killingworth in North Tyneside, says: “I am really looking forward to work with Ean and the management team to drive this customer focused business forward. Applying my 22 years’ experience of developing businesses will enable me to ensure that service integrity and innovation remain at the heart of everything that we do.”
Mark’s appointment comes at a time of significant growth for the Parsons Containers Group which has seen its U Hold The Key self-storage arm open three new sites at Sunderland, Darlington and Mainsforth, near Ferryhill, in recent months. The new sites, which take the total number up to 10, give U Hold The Key a capacity of 1,500 stores, up from around 1,000. The group’s other divisions, Parsons Containers, which sells standard and bespoke containers, and online brands ContainerContainer and ContainersNow, have also experienced sustained growth.
Ean Parsons, managing director of the Parsons Containers Group, says: “We are delighted to welcome Mark to the Parsons Containers Group at what is a crucial time for the business, as we look to replicate the success we have seen in the North East and Lincolnshire in other parts of the UK. Having gained a wealth of experience working for some of the UK’s leading commercial businesses, Mark is exactly the calibre of candidate we’ve been looking for to take us forward into our next stage of growth. Working with the rest of our great team, I am very confident that Mark will help the Parsons Containers Group continue to build on the significant progress of recent years.”
Mark’s appointment follows several internal promotions within the Parsons team, as well as the recruitment of apprentices within the group’s divisions.
