Cheshire Phoenix are pleased to announce the signing of CJ Gettys, who joins from top NCAA Division I Rutgers University, where he started all 33 games in the Big Ten Conference.

The 7 foot centre averaged eight points and five rebounds per game during the 2016-17 season for Rutgers Scarlet Knights and is delighted to join up with the club in September.

On joining the Phoenix, Gettys stated: “First and foremost, I would like to thank God and my family for everything that is happening; secondly, I would like to thank Cheshire Phoenix for believing in me and I cannot wait to get to work.”

Phoenix Head Coach, Ben Thomas added, “This is a huge signing for us. We have been looking to get a quality big for next season and as soon as CJ was on our radar, we had to get him.

“He is coming from a top college playing in one of, if not the best conference, in division one basketball”.

CJ Gettys joins Raheem May-Thompson and Andrew Bachman on the roster for the upcoming season, with the early bird season ticket deadline ending on 30 June.
