Pizza Punks grabs a slice of the action in Newcastle’s booming food and drink sector

A revolutionary new pizza restaurant and bar has announced it is to open its first English outlet in Newcastle upon Tyne creating approx. 30 new jobs.

Pizza Punks, the self-proclaimed artisan wood-fired pizza concept that flies in the face of traditional pizza restaurants, will be bringing its own unique style to the city’s booming food and dining scene this September.

Renowned for its vast array of unusual toppings, Pizza Punks first two restaurants in Glasgow and Belfast have taken the cities by storm, largely thanks to its unusual proposition and an increasing desire from customers to be able to customise dishes.

Set in the heart of Newcastle city centre and located in the former Café Rouge unit on the city’s prestigious Grey Street, Pizza Punk’s new restaurant will open from 4pm on Thursday 6th September following a £400,000 investment.

Inspired by a love of proper pizza, diners will be able to select as many toppings as they like to add to Pizza Punk’s signature handmade sourdough pizza base – all for one set price. With toppings as varied as Newcastle Brown Ale pulled beef and a Full English Breakfast, as well as an extensive vegan, gluten-free and Halal menu, the new offering is guaranteed to deliver anarchy in the oven.

Born in the North East, Owner and Managing Director, Brad Stevens said Newcastle’s thriving food and drink scene made the city a natural choice for the restaurant’s first move into England and will pave the way for further outlets.

Our menu allows people to have whatever they want for a flat fee – we don’t believe people should pay extra to satisfy their taste. Pizza Punks arrival in Newcastle has been supported by NE1, a company which works to improve business in the city centre.
